Does Iowa license roofing contractors?
No. Iowa has no roofing license at all. What it has is registration under Iowa Code chapter 91C, which any contractor earning $2,000 a year from construction must file, now through the Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing rather than Iowa Workforce Development. Registration checks that a business exists and carries the right insurance. It tests nobody on roofing.
Then why do you say you are licensed?

City code chapter 13.07 creates a Class E roofing contractor unlimited license, and getting one means two years of documented field experience plus a passing score on a third-party exam.
